Mexico beats Martinique to reach Gold Cup quarterfinals
DENVER, Jul. 14, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Mexico defeated Martinique by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver.
Mexico dominated the first half thanks to goals from Fabián ('21) and Montes ('34). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Mexicans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Miguel Ángel Ponce seconds before the end of regulation.
