SEATTLE, Jul. 11, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Mexico defeated Canada by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
Mexico dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Raúl Jiménez in the 42nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Mexicans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Fabián on penalty in the 57th minute.
The result put the Mexicans second in Group A with 3 points. Canada is bottom with no points. In their last game, Mexico will meet third-placed Martinique at the CenturyLink Field on July 14, while Canada will face Panama.
