TOYOTA, Jul. 7, 2015 (AMP) — USA 2015 : The United States defeated Honduras by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Toyota Stadium.
Clint Dempsey scored dual goals
The United States dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Clint Dempsey in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Americans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Dempsey in the 64th minute.
The result put the Americans top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, the United States will meet second-placed Haiti at the Toyota Stadium on July 10, while Honduras will face Panama.
