One goal for both sides in the first half, Rolán ('35) for Malaga, Aduriz ('4 on penalty) for Athletic Bilbao and two each in the second, Baysse ('81) and Rolán ('84) for Malaga, Williams ('51, '70) for Athletic Bilbao.
Athletic Bilbao climbed to 9th place with 8 points from 6 games, only one point behind Real Betis, which has a game in hand.
