RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Rio 2016 : Honduras defeated Algeria by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-0), in a Olympics group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the João Havelange Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Honduras dominated the first half thanks to goals from Quioto ('13) and Pereira ('33). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Hondurans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Lozano in the 79th minute.

The result put the Hondurans top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Honduras will meet Portugal at the João Havelange Olympic Stadium on August 7, while Algeria will face Argentina.
