RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 7, 2016 (AMP) — Rio 2016 : Argentina defeated Algeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a Olympics group stage game on Sunday night at the João Havelange Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Correa ('47) and Calleri ('70).
The result put the Argentine third in Group D with 3 points. Algeria is bottom with no points. In their last game, Argentina will meet second-placed Honduras at the João Havelange Olympic Stadium on August 10, while Algeria will face Portugal.
