MONTEVIDEO, Jul. 18, 1930 (AMP) — Uruguay 1930 : Uruguay defeated Peru by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
45 minutes of play and neither the Uruguayans nor the Peruvians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Uruguayan forward Héctor Castro in the 65th minute.
The result put the Uruguayans second in Group 3 with 2 points. Peru is bottom with no points. In their last game, Uruguay will meet group leaders Romania at the Estadio Centenario on July 21.
