BASEL, Jun. 19, 1954 (AMP) — Switzerland 54 : Uruguay defeated Scotland by a big score of 7-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the St. Jakob Stadium in Basel.
Carlos Borges scored tripple goals
Uruguay dominated the first half thanks to goals from Borges ('17) and Míguez ('30). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Uruguayans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Borges '47, '57, Abbadie '54, '85 and Míguez '83).
