RANCAGUA, Jun. 3, 1962 (AMP) — Chile 62 : Hungary defeated Bulgaria by a big score of 6-1 (halftime: 4-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the El Teniente Stadium in Rancagua.
Flórián Albert scored tripple goals
Hungary dominated the first half thanks to goals from Albert ('1, '6), Tichy ('8) and Solymosi ('12). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Albert '53 and Tichy '70).
The result put the Hungarians top of Group 4 with 4 points. Bulgaria is bottom with no points. In their last game, Hungary will meet third-placed Argentina at the El Teniente Stadium on June 6, while Bulgaria will face England.
