DORTMUND, Jun. 23, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : The Netherlands defeated Bulgaria by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.
Johan Neeskens scored dual goals
The Netherlands dominated the first half thanks to goals from Neeskens ('5 on penalty, '44 on penalty). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Dutchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Rep '71 and Theo de Jong '88).
