ROSARIO, Jun. 10, 1978 (AMP) — Argentina 78 : Poland defeated Mexico by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito in Rosario.
Zbigniew Boniek scored dual goals
Poland dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Zbigniew Boniek in the 43rd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Poles further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Deyna '56 and Boniek '84).
