Italy beats Brazil to advance to World Cup semifinals

BARCELONA, Jul. 5, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Italy defeated Brazil by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup second round game on Monday afternoon at the Estadi de Sarrià in Barcelona.

Paolo Rossi scored tripple goals

Italy dominated the first half thanks to goals from Rossi ('5, '25). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Rossi in the 74th minute.

Italy advance to the Semifinals. Brazil is eliminated.
