FLORENCE, Jun. 10, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Czechoslovakia defeated the United States by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Florence Communal Stadium.
Tomáš Skuhravý scored dual goals
Czechoslovakia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Skuhravý ('25) and Bílek ('39 on penalty). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Czechoslovaks further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Hašek '50, Skuhravý '78 and Luhový '90).
The result put the Czechoslovak top of Group A with 2 points. In their next game, Czechoslovakia will meet third-placed Austria at the Florence Communal Stadium on June 15, while the United States will face Italy.
