KOBE, Jun. 7, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Sweden defeated Nigeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Kobe Wing Stadium.
Henrik Larsson scored dual goals
Nigerian forward Julius Aghahowa opened the score in the 27th minute, before seeing Sweden catch up in the 35th minute thanks to Henrik Larsson. 1-1 at half time. The Swedishs eventually won the game in the second period with with another goal by Larsson on penalty in the 63rd minute.
The result put the Swedish top of Group F with 4 points. Nigeria is bottom with no points. In their last game, Sweden will meet second-placed Argentina at the Kobe Wing Stadium on June 12, while Nigeria will face England.
