East Asian Cup 2017 Qualifiers : North Korea beats Taiwan 2-0
KOWLOON, Nov. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Japan 2017 (Qualifiers) : North Korea defeated Taiwan by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 EAFF East Asian Cup (Second Round) on Sunday afternoon at the Mong Kok Stadium in Kowloon.
North Korea dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Jong Il-gwan in the 16th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Koreans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Sim Hyon-jin with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Koreans top of the group with 3 points. In their next game, North Korea will meet Guam at the Mong Kok Stadium on November 9, while Taiwan will face Hong Kong.
