HARRISON, Jul. 8, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Honduras defeated Haiti by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison.
Honduras dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Rony Martínez in the 4th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Hondurans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Chávez in the 78th minute.
The result put the Hondurans top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Honduras will meet second-placed El Salvador at the Red Bull Arena on July 12, while Haiti will face Trinidad and Tobago.
