MIAMI GARDENS, Jul. 12, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Honduras defeated El Salvador by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Friday night at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Honduran midfielder Jorge Claros in stoppage time.
The result put the Hondurans top of Group B with 6 points. El Salvador is third with one point. In their last game, Honduras will meet Trinidad and Tobago at the Sun Life Stadium on July 15, while El Salvador will face Haiti.
