PORTLAND, Jul. 9, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : The United States defeated Belize by a big score of 6-1 (halftime: 3-1), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Jeld-Wen Field in Portland.
Chris Wondolowski scored tripple goals
The United States dominated the first half thanks to goals from Wondolowski ('12, '37, '41). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Americans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Holden '58, Orozco '72 and Donovan '76/penalty).
The result put the Americans top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, the United States will meet third-placed Cuba at the Jeld-Wen Field on July 13, while Belize will face Costa Rica.
