Gold Cup 2013 : USA defeats Cuba 4-1

SANDY, Jul. 13, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : The United States defeated Cuba by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy.

Chris Wondolowski scored dual goals

Alfonso opened the score in the 36th minute, before seeing the United States catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Landon Donovan penalty kick. 1-1 at half time. The Americans eventually won the game in the second period with three more goals by Corona ('57) and Wondolowski ('66, '85).

The result put the Americans top of Group C with 6 points. Cuba is bottom with no points. In their last game, the United States will meet second-placed Costa Rica at the Rio Tinto Stadium on July 16, while Cuba will face Belize.
