SANDY, Jul. 13, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Costa Rica defeated Belize by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Eiley into his own net in the 49th minute.
The result put the Costa Ricans second in Group C with 6 points. Belize is bottom with no points. In their last game, Costa Rica will meet group leaders the United States at the Rio Tinto Stadium on July 16, while Belize will face Cuba.
