La Liga (Week 7) : Deportivo defeats Gijon 2-1
SPAIN, Oct. 1, 2016 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 7: After losing 1-2 to Leganés on September 25 and 1-0 to Atletico Madrid on September 25, the Brancoazuis bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Sporting Gijon this Saturday.
Deportivo La Coruna dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Costa Rican midfielder Celso Borges in the 35th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brancoazuis further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Babel Ryan in stoppage time.
Deportivo La Coruna climbed to 12nd place with 8 points from 7 games, only one point behind Deportivo Alavés.
