AUCKLAND, Jul. 5, 2002 (AMP) — New Zealand 2002 : New Zealand defeated Tahiti by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Friday at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.

New Zealand dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Ryan Nelsen in the 30th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the New Zealanders further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Vicelich '49, Urlovic '80 and Campbell '88).

The result put the New Zealander top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, New Zealand will meet second-placed Papua New Guinea at the North Harbour Stadium on July 7, while Tahiti will face the Solomon Islands.
