AUCKLAND, Jul. 7, 2002 (AMP) — New Zealand 2002 : New Zealand defeated Papua New Guinea by a big score of 9-1 (halftime: 4-1), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Sunday at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
Chris Killen served up another goal feast
New Zealand dominated the first half thanks to goals from Killen ('9, '10, '28) and Campbell ('27). Leading 4-1 at the break, the New Zealanders further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Killen '51, Nelsen '54, Campbell '85, Burton '87 and De Gregorio '90).
The result put the New Zealander top of Group B with 6 points. Papua New Guinea is bottom with one point. In their last game, New Zealand will meet third-placed the Solomon Islands at the North Harbour Stadium on July 9, while Papua New Guinea will face Tahiti.
