Tahiti beats Papua New Guinea to advance to OFC Nations Cup semifinals
AUCKLAND, Jul. 9, 2002 (AMP) — New Zealand 2002 : Tahiti defeated Papua New Guinea by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Tuesday at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
Tagawa scored dual goals
Garcia opened the score in the 29th minute, before seeing Papua New Guinea catch up in the 43rd minute thanks to Davani. 1-1 at half time. The Tahitians eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Tagawa ('49, '64).
