OFC Nations Cup 2016 : Papua New Guinea hold New Caledonia to 1-1
PORT MORESBY, May. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Papua New Guinea 2016 : Papua New Guinea tied 1-1 with New Caledonia (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
The Papua New Guineans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Semmy in the 41st minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by New Caledonia with a saving goal from Saïko in the 84th minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group A with one point. In their next game, New Caledonia will meet Samoa at the Sir John Guise Stadium on June 1, while Papua New Guinea will face Tahiti.
