PORT MORESBY, Jun. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Papua New Guinea 2016 : Papua New Guinea tied 2-2 with Tahiti (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
The Papua New Guineans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Gunemba in the 45th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Gunemba goal ('64) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Tahiti with goals by A. Tehau ('66) and T. Tehau ('76).
The result put the Tahitians top of Group A with 4 points. Papua New Guinea is second with 2 points. In their last game, Tahiti will meet third-placed New Caledonia at the Sir John Guise Stadium on June 5, while Papua New Guinea will face Samoa.
