PORT MORESBY, May. 31, 2016 (AMP) — Papua New Guinea 2016 : The Fiji defeated the Solomon Islands by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Krishna on penalty with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Solomon Islander second in Group B with 3 points. The Fiji is third with 3 points. In their last game, the Solomon Islands will meet group leaders New Zealand at the Sir John Guise Stadium on June 4, while the Fiji will face Vanuatu.
