Olympics 2016 : Mexico defeats Fiji 5-1
SALVADOR, Aug. 7, 2016 (AMP) — Rio 2016 : Mexico defeated the Fiji by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Olympics group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
Gutiérrez served up another goal feast
The Fiji had started off well by taking the lead in the 10th minute with a goal by Krishna. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Mexicans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring five times in the second period (Gutiérrez '48, '55, '58, '73 and Salcedo '67).
The result put the Mexicans top of Group C with 4 points. The Fiji is bottom with no points. In their last game, Mexico will meet second-placed South Korea at the Arena Fonte Nova on August 10, while the Fiji will face Germany.
