SPAIN, Oct. 4, 2014 (AMP) — Segunda division / Match day 7: After a 1-0 victory over Albacete on September 29, La Ponfe lost 3-0 against Girona.
Girona dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Richy in the 22nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Blanquivermells further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Benitez '73 and Sandaza '85).
Girona FC climbed to first place with 14 points from 7 games, one point ahead of runner-up UD Las Palmas, which has a game in hand.
