SãO PAULO, Jun. 25, 1950 (AMP) — Brazil 50 : Sweden defeated Italy by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Pacaembu Stadium.
Hasse Jeppson scored dual goals
Italy opened the score in the score in the 7th minute thanks to Riccardo Carapellese, before Sweden regained the advantage with Jeppson ('25) and Andersson ('33). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Swedishs further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Jeppson in the 68th minute.
The result put the Swedish top of Group 3 with 2 points. In their last game, Sweden will meet Paraguay at the Pacaembu Stadium on June 29, while Italy will face Paraguay.
