Hungary dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kocsis ('3, '21) and Puskás ('17). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Hidegkuti '52, '54, Kocsis '69, '78 and Tóth '75).
