SOLNA, Jun. 8, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Sweden defeated Mexico by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Rasunda Stadium in Solna.
Agne Simonsson scored dual goals
Sweden dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Agne Simonsson in the 17th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Swedishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Liedholm '57/penalty and Simonsson '64).
The result put the Swedish top of Group 3 with 2 points. In their next game, Sweden will meet Hungary at the Rasunda Stadium on June 12, while Mexico will face Wales.
