SOLNA, Jun. 12, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Sweden defeated Hungary by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the Rasunda Stadium in Solna.
Kurt Hamrin scored dual goals
Sweden dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Kurt Hamrin in the 34th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Swedishs further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Hamrin in the 55th minute.
The result put the Swedish top of Group 3 with 4 points. Hungary is third with one point. In their last game, Sweden will meet Wales at the Rasunda Stadium on June 15, while Hungary will face Mexico.
