UDDEVALLA, Jun. 8, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : Brazil defeated Austria by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at Rimnersvallen in Uddevalla.
José Altafini scored dual goals
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Italian forward José Altafini in the 37th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Santos '50 and Altafini '85).
The result put the Brazilians top of Group 4 with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet England at Rimnersvallen on June 11, while Austria will face USSR.
