World Cup 1958 : England held to a 2-2 draw by Austria but qualifies for next round
BORAS, Jun. 15, 1958 (AMP) — Sweden 58 : England tied 2-2 with Austria (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at Ryavallen in Boras.
The Austrians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Austrian midfielder Karl Koller in the 15th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Körner goal ('71) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by England with goals by Johnny Haynes ('56) and Derek Kevan ('74).
