LONDON, Jul. 20, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : England defeated France by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at Wembley Stadium.

Roger Hunt scored dual goals

England dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Roger Hunt in the 38th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Englishs further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Hunt in the 75th minute.

England advance to the Quarterfinals. France is eliminated.
