BIRMINGHAM, Jul. 13, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : Argentina defeated Spain by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Luis Artime scored dual goals

Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with two goals by Argentine forward Luis Artime at '65 and '77.

The result put the Argentine second in Group 2 with 2 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet group leaders Germany at Villa Park on July 16, while Spain will face Switzerland.
