GELSENKIRCHEN, Jun. 26, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : The Netherlands defeated Argentina by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup second round game on Wednesday night at the Parkstadion in Gelsenkirchen.
Johan Cruyff scored dual goals
The Netherlands dominated the first half thanks to goals from Cruyff ('11) and Krol ('25). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Dutchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Rep '73 and Cruyff '90).
The result put the Dutch top of Group A with 2 points. In their next game, the Netherlands will meet third-placed East Germany at the Parkstadion on June 30, while Argentina will face Brazil.
