HANOVER, Jun. 30, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Brazil defeated Argentina by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup second round game on Sunday afternoon at the Niedersachsenstadion in Hanover.
Brazilian forward Rivelino opened the score in the 32nd minute, before seeing Argentina catch up in the 35th minute thanks to Miguel Ángel Brindisi. 1-1 at half time. The Brazilians eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Jairzinho in the 49th minute.
The result put the Brazilians second in Group A with 4 points. Argentina is bottom with no points. In their last game, Brazil will meet group leaders the Netherlands at the Niedersachsenstadion on July 3, while Argentina will face East Germany.
