MUNICH, Jun. 15, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Italy defeated Haiti by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
Haiti made the Italians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Rivera ('52), Benetti ('66) and Anastasi ('79).
The result put the Italians top of Group D with 2 points. In their next game, Italy will meet third-placed Argentina at the Olympic Stadium on June 19, while Haiti will face Poland.
