MUNICH, Jun. 19, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Poland defeated Haiti by a big score of 7-0 (halftime: 5-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
Andrzej Szarmach scored tripple goals
Poland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Lato ('17), Deyna ('18), Szarmach ('30, '34) and Gorgoń ('31). Leading 5-0 at the break, the Poles further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Szarmach '50 and Lato '87).
The result put the Pole top of Group D with 4 points. Haiti is bottom with no points. In their last game, Poland will meet second-placed Italy at the Olympic Stadium on June 23, while Haiti will face Argentina.
