STUTTGART, Jun. 15, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Poland defeated Argentina by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the Neckarstadion in Stuttgart.
Grzegorz Lato scored dual goals
Poland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Lato ('7) and Szarmach ('8). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Poles further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Lato in the 62nd minute.
The result put the Pole second in Group D with 2 points. In their next game, Poland will meet Haiti at the Neckarstadion on June 19, while Argentina will face Italy.
