CORDOBA, Jun. 21, 1978 (AMP) — Argentina 78 : Austria defeated Germany by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup second round game on Wednesday afternoon at the Estadio Olímpico Chateau Carreras in Cordoba.
Hans Krankl scored dual goals
Germany had started off well by taking the lead in the 19th minute with a goal by forward Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Austrians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Vogts '59 own and Krankl '66, '87).
