World Cup 1982 : Spain and Honduras play out 1-1 draw
VALENCIA, Jun. 16, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Spain tied 1-1 with Honduras (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia.
The Hondurans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Honduran midfielder Héctor Zelaya in the 8th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Spain with a saving goal from Spanish forward Roberto López Ufarte on penalty in the 65th minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group E with one point. In their next game, Honduras will meet third-placed Northern Ireland at the Mestalla Stadium on June 21, while Spain will face Yugoslavia.
