ZARAGOZA, Jun. 21, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Honduras tied 1-1 with Northern Ireland (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at La Romareda in Zaragoza.
The Irishs started off well by taking the lead thanks to Irish forward Gerry Armstrong in the 10th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Honduras with a saving goal from Honduran forward Tony Laing in the 60th minute.
The result put the Hondurans second in Group E with 2 points. Northern Ireland is third with 2 points. In their last game, Honduras will meet Yugoslavia at La Romareda on June 24, while Northern Ireland will face Spain.
