STANFORD, Jun. 20, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Brazil defeated Russia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday afternoon at the Stanford Stadium.
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Romário in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Raí on penalty in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Brazilians top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet second-placed Cameroon at the Stanford Stadium on June 24, while Russia will face Sweden.
