DALLAS, Jun. 21, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Nigeria defeated Bulgaria by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
Nigeria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Yekini ('21) and Amokachi ('43). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Nigerians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Amuneke in the 55th minute.
The result put the Nigerians second in Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Nigeria will meet group leaders Argentina at the Cotton Bowl on June 25, while Bulgaria will face Greece.
