LENS, Jun. 24, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Spain defeated Bulgaria by a big score of 6-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
Fernando Morientes scored dual goals
Spain dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hierro ('5 on penalty) and Enrique ('18). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Morientes '53, '80, Bachev '88/own and Kiko '90).
