No goals in the first half and two each in the second, Suzuki ('59) and Inamoto ('67) for Japan, Wilmots ('57) and Peter Van Der Heyden ('75) for Belgium.
The result left both teams on top of Group H with one point. In their next game, Belgium will meet Tunisia at the Saitama Stadium 2002 on June 10, while Japan will face Russia.
