KOBE, Jun. 5, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Russia defeated Tunisia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Kobe Wing Stadium.
45 minutes of play and neither the Russians nor the Tunisians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Titov ('59) and Karpin ('64 on penalty).
The result put the Russians top of Group H with 3 points. In their next game, Russia will meet second-placed Japan at the Kobe Wing Stadium on June 9, while Tunisia will face Belgium.
